JP Hart Lumber Company started in 1939. In the beginning, Hart Lumber was a wholesale lumber broker selling railcars and truckloads of lumber to lumber dealers in and around the San Antonio area.
The company has evolved and changed in the last 65 years. In 1970’s, Hart Lumber opened its first location where large amounts of inventory could be stored and sold. In the late 1980’s, Hart began selling gypsum wallboard to builders and commercial contractors. The most significant change happened in the mid 1990’s when Hart Lumber began to primarily focus on professional builders, while opening additional locations. Today, Hart Lumber is dedicated to serving both residential and commercial contractors from six locations in Texas.
